Report suggests Arsenal stance on Ruben Neves after summer talks

A report from the Daily Mirror has suggested that Arsenal remain in the hunt to sign Ruben Neves from Wolves, with a number of Champions League sides also keen on the midfielder.

Neves looks set to be linked with a move away from Molineux in every window until he finally leaves. The 24-year-old has been an amazing signing for Wolves. And he has been excellent again this term.

He was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in the summer. In fact, The Sun suggested at one stage that the Gunners were in talks with Jorge Mendes over a potential move. It was claimed that his £35 million valuation was leaving Arsenal with reservations.

Obviously, no move would take place. But it does appear that the middle of the park may be one of the next areas Mikel Arteta and Edu look to strengthen.

Albert Sambi Lokonga arrived in the summer. And Thomas Partey has been brilliant of late. But the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Mohamed Elneny have been linked with a move away. Granit Xhaka meanwhile, will probably never completely unite the fanbase.

The Daily Mirror reports that a number of clubs are understood to be monitoring Neves. The report suggests that they come from the Champions League. However, they also mention Arsenal.

Arsenal must be tempted to now meet Ruben Neves’ asking price

Unfortunately for the Gunners, it is hard to imagine Wolves reducing their asking price from the summer. Neves is under contract until 2024. So they are under little pressure to sell in the next two windows.

There have been times when his form has dipped. But it is easy to forget how young he still is. He is a player with almost 200 appearances for Wolves under his belt. He has played 126 times in the Premier League meanwhile.

Neves is potentially coming into the peak years of his career in the next season or two. So perhaps it should not be a surprise if Arsenal decide that his asking price is worth paying.
