Report: 'Special' forward wanted by Tottenham now closing in on move to another PL club

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Hull City’s Keane Lewis-Potter in recent weeks.

The Daily Star claimed in May that Spurs have been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old forward.

Apparently, former Tottenham boss David Pleat has recommended Lewis-Potter to the club.

Spurs are far from the only club apparently in pursuit of the Tigers talent.

As well as Tottenham, the likes of Leeds, West Ham, Brentford, Southampton, Wolves and Everton are also eyeing Lewis-Potter.

However, it looks as though Brentford might soon beat Spurs and all the other suitors to the talented winger.

According to the Hull Daily Mail, the Bees are edging closer to a deal for Lewis-Potter.

They’ve reportedly submitted a revised bid to the Championship club this week in hope of pushing the move through in the next week.

Brentford’s latest bid is apparently the region of £16million plus significant add-ons.

While that is still short of the Tigers’ valuation, there is growing belief on all sides that a deal can be done.

In addition, Lewis-Potter reportedly favours a move to Brentford over the other suitors.

“He can be anything he wants to be”

Lewis-Potter would be a good shout for Tottenham, a young, very talented attacking player with an incredibly high ceiling.

In addition, he’d be able to learn from three of the best attacking talents in England – Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski.

Nonetheless, Lewis-Potter may have not been that high a priority for Spurs, while Brentford have apparently been ‘consistent in their attempts to tempt City into doing a deal’.

Whichever club gets him would be getting a top talent who Hull youth coach Craig Fagan even compared to Eden Hazard (The Mirror).

Meanwhile, former Hull boss Grant McCann told the official club website in September 2020: “The kid’s a special talent.

“Wherever we play him across that frontline, he’ll create and score goals.

“He can be anything he wants to be. He’s quick, he’s getting stronger.

“If you see him physically now compared to where he was this time last year, he’s head and shoulders above in terms of his physique.

“He’s got all the tools to be anything he wants.”
