Tottenham are putting their plans in place for the January window and are looking at how they can make the best use of the winter period.
Injuries to key players have left Spurs looking and feeling a bit short. Further, Richarlison is being linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League and a big bid could convince Spurs to sell.
Brazilian winger Raphinha has been linked with a move to Tottenham today. However, according to The Sun, it doesn’t look like a new attacker is the top priority.
The Sun claims that instead of a new forward, Tottenham are most likely to consider a move for a new central defender above anything else.

As previously reported on this website, Bournemouth’s English defender Lloyd Kelly is one of the names said to be under consideration.
A serious hamstring injury to Micky van de Ven has left Tottenham struggling at centre-back. Likewise, Cristian Romero’s tendency to pick up cards is also a factor.
Tottenham to sign new defender in January
In fairness to Spurs here, they probably needed a new defender before Van de Ven picked up his injury.
The Dutchman going down for a few months just means they’re now even more in need of someone.
The other issue for Van de Ven is given he’s picked up a hamstring problem, it could well end up being a worry all season long. His pace means his hamstrings are crucial to his game, and this could very much change how he approaches some games.
For Tottenham, the January window very much feels like it’s a case of getting what they can without compromising the summer budget.
From there, the club will be able to plan further ahead and give Postecoglou the best chance possible of re-building his squad in the summer months.
