Report shares Tottenham stance on Adama Traore ahead of January
Adama Traore is on Tottenham Hotspur’s shopping list heading into the January transfer window, according to a report from The Telegraph.
Antonio Conte is set to meet with Fabio Paratici and Daniel Levy in the coming days as they discuss plans for next month. And it appears that Spurs are looking to create space on the wage bill ahead of potential arrivals.
It was reported on Monday that Tottenham are open to letting Dele Alli go. Dele is more likely to leave on loan with Spurs not expecting to attract the kind of offer that makes a permanent exit appealing.
Of course, there was already plenty of anticipation ahead of Conte’s first couple of windows as Tottenham boss. The Italian has a reputation for being a busy man while they are open.
And The Telegraph has named a couple of his targets ahead of January. Dusan Vlahovic is a player who has been widely linked with a move for some time. He continues to shine in Serie A.
Interestingly, the report adds that Adama is another player on the Spurs radar. The Wolves man is arguably one of the most perplexing players in the Premier League.
Tottenham signing Adama Traore could be a masterstroke if Conte helps Spaniard realise his potential at last
On his day, he is simply unplayable. Certainly, few defenders have an easy afternoon up against the Spaniard. However, his numbers tell a very different story.
The 25-year-old is yet to score or provide an assist in the Premier League this term. Last year meanwhile, he had two goals and two assists.
He probably does get additional attention because he is so quick and powerful. But he should arguably be a game-changer a lot more often than he proves to be. Wolves reportedly value Adama at £40 million.
So some Tottenham fans may be a little underwhelmed. Having said that, he could potentially be an amazing option for the right wing-back role in Conte’s system. He could also play in a couple of other roles.
And if Conte can get the best out of him, he could prove to be a devastating option for Tottenham.
