Report shares Spurs squad reaction to Conte manager links
Many of Spurs squad believe that landing Antonio Conte as their new manager would be a coup for Tottenham Hotspur, with The Telegraph reporting that several players are excited about the links.
Conte looks set to become Jose Mourinho’s successor in North London.
The Telegraph reports that he could be handed a three-year deal. Both sides are growing optimistic that an agreement will be reached.
Sources at Spurs reportedly believe that it is a matter of time until an announcement is made.
And it seems that the players are very much on board with Conte coming in.
According to The Telegraph, many of the squad are excited about the links. They reportedly view the potential appointment as a coup for the club.
Conte, of course, has won several league titles during his career. He guided Inter Milan to Serie A glory this past season.
He also won the Premier League with Chelsea.
So it would be a real statement from Spurs. And for that, Daniel Levy deserves credit.
Spurs chief Levy deserves credit over Conte, after finding himself in tricky position amid Pochettino links
Levy was already under enormous pressure as the wait for Spurs’ next boss rumbled on.
They have had plenty of time to find Mourinho’s successor. And yet, supporters have had to wait into June for a breakthrough.
And he arguably added to that pressure after going after Mauricio Pochettino. It was recently claimed that Tottenham had held talks with the Paris Saint-Germain boss about a return.
He would have been an incredibly popular option for Spurs. So when the potential hurdles emerged, Levy faced a problem.
The thought of Pochettino returning pleased many. There is still a sense that he has unfinished business at Spurs.
He was the one who took Tottenham into title contention. And obviously, they reached the Champions League final during his tenure.
Some of the players had even discussed a potential return for Pochettino. Moussa Sissoko praised the 49-year-old when asked about the links last week.
And of course, Harry Kane’s future had to be factored in. Tottenham surely need a big name to stand a chance of convincing the striker to stay.
So the Tottenham chief needed to pull something special out of the hat.
But it appears that the squad feels that he has done exactly that.
