Report shares Liverpool stance on Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka
Ian McGarry has told The Transfer Window Podcast that Liverpool are interested in Arsenal starlet Bukayo Saka with the Reds expecting to sell at least two of their forwards in the coming windows.
Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have scored 36 Premier League goals between them this season. However, Jota is the only one of the quartet younger than 29 years of age.
It is no surprise therefore, that Liverpool may have their eye on potential signings. Interestingly, McGarry has suggested that the Reds are braced for an overhaul in that area of the field. And Saka is a player on their radar.
Meanwhile, he added that Arsenal have responded by opening talks with his representatives over a new contract. But McGarry added that Saka would be keen to consider a move to Anfield.
“We have reported on The Transfer Window Podcast that Liverpool are looking to the future with regards to the fact that they expect to sell at least two of their attacking players. Saka is someone who is a player who suits Liverpool’s style,” he told The Transfer Window Podcast.
“My understanding is that there have been talks with his representatives with regards to giving him a contract upgrade at Arsenal.
“Liverpool would provide the opportunity and platform for him to play and compete at the highest level. And that would certainly be something that I’m told he and his representatives are very interested in.”
Liverpool will need to break the bank to tempt Arsenal into Bukayo Saka sale
It is hard to think of another player who would hurt Arsenal fans more by leaving the Emirates right now. Saka is the jewel in the crown in North London.
It is remarkable to think that the England international is only 20 years of age. He has already been a key player at Arsenal for some time. And he has kicked on as the side have made progress under Mikel Arteta.
For that reason, it is incredibly difficult to imagine Saka moving on. He appears to be in the perfect place for his development right now.
Liverpool obviously find themselves in a stronger position. They have been contending for trophies on several fronts for some time now.
And Saka may ultimately decide that he needs to move on should Arsenal’s progress stagnate in the coming years.
But while the Gunners are moving forward and Liverpool have not lost any of their key men, it is hard to imagine Saka moving to Merseyside anytime soon.
