Mikel Arteta has heaped praise on Bukayo Saka but the Arsenal boss admitted in a recent press conference that he doesn’t know how much better the 20-year-old can be in 2022.
The youngster was the Gunners’ star man yet again on Boxing Day. He scored two brilliant goals against Norwich City and was arguably the best player on the pitch in his side’s 5-0 triumph.
Arsenal were scheduled to play again this afternoon but the game has been postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak at Wolves. Arteta’s pre-match press conference took place before the postponement, and that is where he delivered his verdict on Saka.
Here’s what the Gunners boss said, as quoted by Football London.
Mikel Arteta: Bukayo Saka has unquestionable talent
After what has been a tremendous 2021 for Saka, a lot is expected of him in the new year.
Arteta was quizzed about how good he thinks the youngster will be in 2022. He said: “We don’t know!
“What I expect is what he does all the time – that is that he works extremely hard, he’s a really humble boy and he has a really special connection with this football club.
“His talent is obviously unquestionable, but he needs his teammates, he needs his environment, he needs a cool head and he needs a very clear direction of what he wants to become. Time will tell.”

TBR View:
Saka, still just 20, will only get better.
The Englishman is already one of the best players in the Premier League. He is playing in a team whose confidence is really high, and alongside a number of other youngsters, he could really shine for Arsenal next year.
Saka is just two goals away from making this his best-ever goalscoring season. Half of the campaign is still left to be played and even if he carries on at the same rate, he’ll end the campaign with 12 goals and eight assists, which is a phenomenal return for a 20-year-old.
Arsenal really have a gem on their hands and fans should be really excited about how good Saka will be in the coming years.
