Mohamed Elneny is still amongst the players Arsenal have put up for sale this summer, with The Telegraph reporting that Mikel Arteta is looking to fund a bid for Thomas Partey.

Elneny’s future has become a talking point as the Gunners continue to build for the new season. It would have arguably surprised few fans had he left earlier in the window after spending last year out on loan.

However, the Egyptian has arguably been one of the players to have stood out during pre-season.

And his display in the Community Shield victory over Liverpool was lauded by many of the supporters.

Nevertheless, The Telegraph has suggested that an exit is still on the cards. The report has claimed that he is one of the players up for sale.

The Telegraph notes that Arteta has earmarked Partey as his top midfield target. And he is hoping to offload several players to help finance a bid for the Atletico Madrid star.

TBR View: Ruthless decision on Elneny highlights Arsenal’s ambition

It would have been easy for Arteta to put his faith in Elneny after his Wembley display. And perhaps, it would prove to be a good decision as he has already transformed a number of players.

But it is potentially a big statement to let Elneny go, particularly if Partey ends the window as an Arsenal player.

Elneny is certainly a good player. And he has proved he is capable of outstanding performances. But Arteta has seemingly concluded that it is another player who is going to help the Gunners move to the next level.
