Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Mohamed Elneny’s display
Some Arsenal fans are wondering if Mohamed Elneny is set to become the latest member of the Gunners squad who seemingly enjoys a dramatic transformation under Mikel Arteta following Saturday’s Community Shield.
Elneny made his mark in the club’s opening game of pre-season with an audacious goal at MK Dons. And he continues to catch the eye as he impressed with his performance against Liverpool at Wembley.

The 28-year-old was excellent against the Reds. He looked composed on the ball and seemed to often keep things simple. There were a number of occasions where he had a number of red shirts around him, and yet, he managed to calmly relieve the pressure with a pass to one of his teammates.
He also read the game well. He was happy to get stuck in and made a number of interceptions when Jurgen Klopp’s men were pushing forward.

And his display has prompted some supporters to discuss whether the Egyptian has a future at the Emirates ahead of the coming season.
Before pre-season began, most would have surely suggested that he was a player who needed to be offloaded. Arsenal were excellent in midfield towards the end of last season, and his loan at Besiktas had seemingly done little for his place in the pecking order.
It must be noted that some are reserving judgement on Elneny. He is a player who has made 90 appearances for the club in all competitions, so one performance has not forced everyone to change their minds about him.
But many feel that he was superb at Wembley. And with Arteta seemingly helping the likes of David Luiz and Granit Xhaka become key men in such a short space of time, there is perhaps little reason the fans cannot be optimistic about what Elneny’s future may hold.
Here is how some of the fans reacted to his Community Shield performance…

I actually wouldn’t be against keeping Elneny, I know he’s not the most exciting player but he’s very energetic, suits Arteta’s pressing and very rarely does he have a bad game #AFC

Would love to see Elneny stay and contribute, think he can. I like how he keeps the ball most of the time, he gets out of tricky situations. Can play some good football with him if he has the right players around him. Quality pro.
