Arsenal are amongst the list of clubs to have already made contact with Ousmane Dembele with the Frenchman deciding to leave Barcelona, according to a report from Foot Mercato.

Dembele’s contract at the Nou Camp expires at the end of the season. Previous reports have suggested that he is already on £200,000-a-week with Barca. However, talks between the two parties have now apparently collapsed.

Foot Mercato reports that Dembele saw himself as the future for Barcelona. But he has now decided to move on with the Catalan giants unable to make an offer that meets his demands.

Dembele’s decision has apparently put the Gunners on alert. Foot Mercato reports that Arsenal have already made contact with Dembele.

Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chelsea have also wasted little time in registering an interest.

Barca are yet to decide whether to cash in in January. But obviously, his admirers from abroad can discuss a pre-contract deal ahead of the summer imminently.

It is not the first time Arsenal have been linked with Dembele in recent times. In fact, it was recently reported that intermediaries looking at a potential deal involving Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang moving to Barcelona had suggested a swap with Dembele.

It does appear that that ship has probably sailed. Barca have since signed Ferran Torres from Manchester City.

Torres’ move is probably a blow for Arsenal. There are not too many sides who can afford Aubameyang. So they may have hoped that Barcelona would make a move.

Adding Dembele to the wage bill right now therefore, would be a gamble. He has not had the best time in Catalonia. And Arsenal would potentially be left paying around £450,000-a-week if they have both Dembele and Aubameyang on the wage bill at the same time.
