Rival Premier League clubs have identified the seriously high potential of Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero.
Romero’s spell at Tottenham has been a massive success, cementing his spot in Antonio Conte’s starting line-up after an initial injury lay off when he joined the club.

He’s also struck up a brilliant partnership on and off the field with Eric Dier, and now he looks set to stay in north London for the foreseeable future.
The Telegraph’s report suggests Spurs are about to trigger Romero’s £41m option to buy.
The opportunity to do this expires at the end of the month, and if Tottenham hadn’t taken it up, there would have been plenty of rival sides waiting to pounce on the defender.

Tottenham’s business in the transfer market has been brilliant since Conte’s arrival, and the conversion of Romero’s deal to a permanent one will only add to this.
The Argentine played 22 league games last season and recorded some impressive stats as Conte’s right centre-back.

The 24-year-old was in the top 10% of central defenders across Europe for pressures, tackles, interceptions and blocks, stats that are virtually unmatched across the Premier League.
Romero’s grasp on a starting spot in Conte’s side has limited game time for other defenders at the club, with Joe Rodon leaving last week to join Rennes on loan.
Japhet Tanganga may also be on his way out this summer, while Davinson Sanchez is also considering a move away from Tottenham.
