According to The Telegraph, Real Madrid are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as a replacement for Casemiro, who is on his way to Manchester United.

Spurs signed the Denmark international from Southampton for £15 million just two years ago (Goal). He has been an integral part of their midfield, having played 103 times in all competitions since he joined the club.

Real Madrid want to sign Tottenham star Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg as a replacement for Casemiro

Real Madrid have one of the best midfield trios on the planet. Luka Modric and Toni Kroos playing slightly ahead of Casemiro makes them a truly formidable side, but it looks like they’re set to lose one of those three players.

Casemiro, described as a ‘destroyer’ by Managing Madrid, is all set to join Manchester United this summer for a fee reported to be in the region of £60 million (The Sun). He will be a fine signing for the Red Devils, and although Real Madrid have plenty of talented players in their squad, it looks like they are on the market for a replacement.

The Telegraph claim that Hojbjerg is among the players who is appreciated at the Bernabeu, with Carlo Ancelotti said to be a huge fan of the Dane. It has been claimed that the Italian even tried to sign him for Everton when he was at the helm at Goodison Park.

Hojbjerg, who joined Tottenham in 2020, still has almost three years left on his contract.

Hojbjerg, branded as ‘incredible’ by Antonio Conte, has been an excellent player for Tottenham over the last two years. He has even started this campaign well, scoring a hugely important goal at Chelsea last weekend.

However, if a good offer arrives, Tottenham could well let him go.

Spurs have brought in Yves Bissouma from Brighton this summer, while Rodrigo Bentancur has slotted in really well. Oliver Skipp is also an option when he’s fit, which makes Spurs very strong in that area.

If Real Madrid really want Hojbjerg, they should be able to sign him this summer, and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham will dive into the market for a replacement if he does leave.
