Report: Real Madrid consider signing 'exceptional' striker now, just a day after Tottenham made £40m bid
The battle for reported Tottenham Hotspur target Gabriel Jesus is heating up as European and Spanish champions Real Madrid enter the race to sign the Manchester City striker this summer.
The Brazilian, branded as ‘exceptional’ by Pep Guardiola, had a really impressive season at the Etihad last term. He finished the campaign with 13 goals and 12 assists in all competitions, which is a spectacular return for a striker.
Arsenal, Tottenham and Juventus have all been linked with a move to sign Jesus this summer, but if a latest report is to be believed, there’s now a club that can blow everyone else out of the water.
Arsenal and Tottenham-linked Gabriel Jesus is an option for Real Madrid
According to Spanish journalist Jose Felix Diaz on Marca, Jesus was offered to Real Madrid and he is now a serious option for the Galacticos in the upcoming summer transfer window.
The report claims that Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti really likes Jesus and even wanted to sign him for Bayern Munich back in the day. City beat the Germans then, but the five-time Champions League winning manager could well get his wish now.
A meeting reportedly took place between Ancelotti, Florentino Perez and Jose Angel Sanchez recently, and although a fixed name for a new striker wasn’t agreed upon, it has been claimed that Jesus is now definitely on the shortlist.
If Real Madrid really go all out for Jesus, it’s difficult to imagine how Arsenal or Tottenham could even compete in the race for his signature.

Spurs tabled an official bid yesterday
According to TuttoJuve, Antonio Conte’s Tottenham lodged an official offer to sign Jesus from Manchester City yesterday.
Harry Kane is Spurs’ undisputed first-choice forward, and that isn’t going to change. However, Antonio Conte is keen to bring in another striker this summer, and Jesus is reportedly high up on their wish list.
The report claims that Tottenham tabled a £40 million bid to sign Jesus yesterday. It has been claimed that Conte wants to wrap this deal up as soon as possible, but with Real Madrid’s reported interest now, it may not be a straightforward deal to complete.
The transfer window hasn’t even opened yet and it will be interesting to see what will happen with Jesus, who is a wanted man this summer.
