Het Nieuwsblad have claimed that RB Leipzig have won the race to sign Manchester City striker Lukas Nmecha. The forward impressed during a loan spell at Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht last season. Now, Leipzig are set to complete a transfer for Manchester City man Nmecha, worth £8.5million.
Nmecha, 21, joined Anderlecht on loan from Manchester City last summer. Having failed at Preston, Middlesbrough and Wolfsburg during previous loan spells, he had a lot to prove. But the 20-time, 12-goal Germany Under-21 star proved his potential – scoring 21 times in 41 games.
That form has not gone unnoticed. Anderlecht wanted to keep Nmecha, but Leipzig have won the race to sign Nmecha. It is believed a fee for the Manchester City ace will be £8.5million. Nmecha was about to enter the final 12 months of his contract at City, so a permanent sale makes sense.

Manchester City transfer news: Good business for all parties, including Nmecha
Firstly, Manchester City needed to sell him – despite his form at Anderlecht. He was never going to break into City’s side with Pep Guardiola keen on Harry Kane. So, a move was needed given his contract status. They get a decent fee for his services. Leipzig get a talent that has plenty of potential.
But for Nmecha, it is a move that last summer, he could have only dreamt of. Disappointing loan spells meant his stock was low, but his excellent form in Belgium has attracted Leipzig. While he might not start under Jesse Marsch, he will certainly get game time and he needs to take his chance.
