Manchester City are reportedly considering a move for Inter Milan and Belgium striker Romelu Lukaku. Clearly, their first choice looks as if it is Harry Kane, with the Tottenham man keen to leave. Lukaku is also said to be a target – and he responded when asked about City on Twitter, by club legend Trevor Sinclair.
Lukaku, 28, is currently impressing with Belgium at Euro 2020. The former Chelsea, Everton and Manchester United striker already has three goals from three group games. His form is certainly eclipsing that of Kane, who is yet to score at Euro 2020 – despite a fantastic chance on Tuesday night.
The Telegraph report that both Kane and Lukaku are on City’s shortlist as they look to replace Sergio Aguero. But during a Q&A session on his personal Twitter account on Wednesday afternoon, Lukaku made it clear that he is not interested. He gave a five-word response when asked by City icon Sinclair
Lukaku is next best thing, after Kane for Manchester City
He might even be better. While Kane is probably more creative and has the ability score on a regular basis from outside of the box – Lukaku is stronger and occupies multiple players. However, Lukaku still produced 10 assists alongside his 30 goals last season. Is Serie A as good as the Premier League?
It is not far off. Kane’s stats are more impressive, especially when you consider Kane has done it in the Premier League – and for a side that finished seventh, not first. But if City cannot get Kane, and they should fight, hammer and nail, to get £142,000-a-week (Sun) Lukaku this summer.
