Report: Raiola wants to triple salary of Liverpool linked Malen
Mino Raiola wants to triple the salary of Liverpool-linked ace Donyell Malen, according to Bild.
He currently earns €2m (£1.7m), yet his agent wants to increase that ‘three-fold’.
The winger is reportedly a transfer target for the Reds. However, Malen is allegedly attracting interest from a wide range of clubs across Europe, including Barcelona and Juventus.
He was in brilliant form for PSV Eindhoven last season, scoring 27 times in 45 games across all competitions. It earned him a spot in the Netherlands squad for Euro 2020.
The German publication is claiming the ace is the main target to replace Manchester United-bound Jadon Sancho at Borussia Dortmund.
Liverpool need to be wary about overpaying
Given the calibre of sides interested in signing the talented youngster, a bidding war could ensue. Liverpool need to wary about potentially overpaying for Malen amid claims over Raiola.
The superagent is notorious for driving a hard bargain and will demand excessive fees for his player.
It is reported to only be a three-fold increase on Malen’s current wage packet, however, don’t rule out the possibility of further increases.
In that case, Jurgen Klopp’s side would do well to walk away from a deal.
The last 18 months have been fairly brutal for the northwest giants. Liverpool allegedly made a pre-tax loss of £46m for the 2019/2020 season, thanks to Covid-19.
And it is not like Liverpool don’t have incredible players in attack.
Diogo Jota, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino provide enough quality in the final third.
Moving for Malen would be smart, but a bidding war is the last thing the Reds need.
