Report: PSV refused to cooperate with Everton for Dumfries

PSV allegedly refused to cooperate with Everton in their pursuit of Denzel Dumfries.

What’s the story?

According to Voetbal International, the Dutch side refused to cooperate because they only wanted to sell the right-back.

Reports just five days ago claimed the Merseysiders wanted an initial loan deal for the player. And it seems to have hampered the club in their move for the defender.

Internazionale have since swooped in and stolen the player from under the noses of Everton. Video footage from Daniele Mari (via Fabrizio Romano) has shown the Netherlands international arriving at an airport in Milan ahead of his move to the Serie A champions.

The deal for the ace is worth €12.5m (£10.6m) plus add-ons, according to the alleged transfer guru. Inter were handed a financial boost after Romelu Lukaku completed a €115m (£97.7m) move to Chelsea.

Everton will regret missing out on Dumfries

If it wasn’t already, signing a right-back should be a priority for the Toffees this summer. And it seems that, in Dumfries, Everton have missed out on the chance for a great transfer amid news PSV refused to cooperate.

The Dutchman was flying during Euro 2020 at both ends of the pitch. He scored twice in just four appearances, helping his country reach the last-16 stage. And at just £10.6m he should prove to be an incredible bargain.

So, it begs a question, what were Everton doing asking for an initial loan?

If Romano is to be believed, the fee for the ace is incredibly cheap and certainly affordable for a club like Everton.

You can’t help but feel as though the Goodison Park outfit have let a great opportunity slip through their fingers.

Not only would the player have added an option to the right side of defence, he would arguably be an upgrade on Seamus Coleman.
