Everton have changed their stance on signing Denzel Dumfries slightly with the Liverpool Echo reporting that the Toffees now plan to pursue the right-back on an initial loan.
Dumfries has been linked with Everton for much of the summer. Rafa Benitez’s side certainly needs further options on the right of the defence.

The Liverpool Echo reports that Marcel Brands views £15 million-rated Dumfries as the long-term successor for Seamus Coleman at Goodison Park.
It was previously claimed that talks had been held over a move for Dumfries.
However, it appears that Everton have now decided to change their approach.

According to the Liverpool Echo, the Toffees are now looking to try and agree an initial loan for the 25-year-old. It is claimed that lengthy internal discussions have been held about the player.
Loan for Dumfries could be inspired deal for Everton – as long as door to permanent deal is left open
While The Netherlands did not have the best Euro 2020, Dumfries proved to be one of the real stars of the competition.
The PSV Eindhoven captain was excellent before his country’s last 16 exit.
It would therefore, be an outstanding piece of business if Everton could land him on loan for the coming campaign.
However, it is surely imperative that any loan leaves the path clear for Everton to make his deal permanent should he impress.
Dumfries has the potential to be a superb signing for the club. And if he does well during a year in the Premier League, he will attract a lot more interest.
Meanwhile, his £15 million asking price should rise considerably.
If Everton can land Dumfries for little in this window and ensure that the plans are in place to make his deal permanent further down the line, it seems to be a no-brainer.
Whether PSV would accept such a deal however, remains to be seen.
