It’s been a good summer for Arsenal so far.

The Gunners have brought in several great new players, including top attacking target Gabriel Jesus.

Arsenal have also won both of their pre-season friendlies so far, scoring 10 goals along the way.

Better still, Jesus, Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Martinelli are linking up superbly on the pitch.

But Arsenal don’t appear to be done in the transfer market just yet.

The Gunners’ attention has reportedly turned to Ajax’s Lisandro Martinez.

However, Arsenal have quite a battle on their hands, as Manchester United apparently want him too.

And according to a report from 90Min, the Red Devils seem to be pressing ahead in pursuit of Martinez.

The outlet claims United have made an increased offer of €50m (around £42.5m) for the Argentina international.

Apparently, the Red Devils are confident of having met Ajax’s demands and soon being able to finalise the signing.

Yet more worryingly for Arsenal, it’s even believed that United already have plans for a medical in place.

In terms of the Gunners’ efforts, 90Min claims they’ve made ‘more than one offer’ for Martinez.

This isn’t anything new. Reports have previously claimed that Arsenal have made three bids for the player.

Arsenal really need to act fast, or they risk missing out on the 24-year-old.

Martinez is a player viewed as ‘perfect’ by Mikel Arteta, according to Fabrizio Romano.

He can play at left-back, left centre-half and also in defensive midfield.

Martinez could solve three different problems for Arsenal next season, and he really would be a fantastic signing.

But the Gunners are running the risk that he could end up lining up against them next term.
