Report: PL rivals hijack Arsenal interest in 20-year-old with £12m move, bid set to be accepted
Reported Arsenal interest in Stoke City defender Nathan Collins is being hijacked by Premier League rivals Burnley.
The Daily Star claimed earlier this week, as relayed by The Boot Room, that Burnley and Leicester City are joining Arsenal in the hunt for the Championship star.
However, fresh transfer speculation suggests Burnley are going one step further.
The Sun reports that Burnley have made a £12million bid for the Irishman, and Championship side Stoke are likely to accept the offer.
Sean Dyche’s side now look set to win the race for the 20-year-old’s signature ahead of Arsenal.
For £12million, Burnley could be about to land some great business for a highly-rated talent in the second tier. Collins is a 6ft 4in centre-back colossus that has earned rave reviews with Stoke.
Forget Nathan Collins, Arsenal need to give William Saliba a chance
It’s frustrating that Arsenal look set to miss out on another transfer target, but there is a positive. Mikel Arteta’s Gunners side needs strengthening most in the midfield.
However, there are plenty of options already available to him in the heart of defence.
One man that needs a chance in pre-season is William Saliba.
Saliba, 20, is an Arsenal-owned player that spent this season on loan with French club Nice. He’s a talented ball-playing centre-half that needs to get an opportunity. There are many who believe he can replicate the success of Leicester City’s Wesley Fofana if given a chance.
Additionally, Arsenal centre-halves Rob Holding and Gabriel Magalhaes will be aiming to be key players next year. They both do have ability to perform on their day.
Arteta needs to ensure the club are searching for a midfielder that can sort them out in the centre of the park.
