Tottenham Hotspur are considering a move for Adama Traore that would involve Matt Doherty moving to Wolves in a swap deal, according to a report from The Athletic.

The Athletic suggests that Antonio Conte wants a new right wing-back. Emerson Royal has struggled since his move. And he does not tend to provide much of a threat going forward.

Conte sees Adama as someone who could play that role. And thus, Spurs are looking to make a fresh move for the Spain international.

Wolves have been linked with a fresh move for Doherty this week. They sold the Irishman – who was lauded for being ‘fantastic‘ during his time at Molineux by Nuno Espírito Santo – to Tottenham back in 2020.

And The Athletic reports that Spurs are weighing up a move that would see Adama move to North London, with Doherty moving in the opposite direction.

Adama, on his own, could cost £20 million.

Fabio Paratici has already managed to utilise a swap deal to strengthen Tottenham’s squad. Bryan Gil arrived in the summer in a transfer that involved Erik Lamela joining Sevilla.

Tottenham fans will surely welcome swap deal involving Adama Traore and Matt Doherty

Adama is a divisive figure amongst Premier League fans. He is unplayable at times. But he contributes nothing like the number of goals and assists he really should. In fact, he is yet to open his account in either category in the Premier League this term.

However, it is clear that the potential is definitely there. So many Tottenham supporters will give the pursuit their backing – particularly if Doherty is used as a makeweight. If Conte is a fan, they will trust his judgement.

Unfortunately, the defender’s time with Spurs has simply not worked out. So using Doherty to help boost their chances of signing Adama could be inspired from Tottenham.
