A report from The Athletic claims Fabio Paratici got to do something Mauricio Pochettino wanted for years at Tottenham – a summer clearout.
Tottenham’s work in the window has been applauded this summer. Daniel Levy has been often criticised for a lack of investment over the years.
But this summer, he has been willing to bring in new players. In come Cristian Romero, Bryan Gil, Emerson Royal and Pierluigi Gollini.
Teen midfielder Pape Matar Sarr – who starred for Senegal on Wednesday – also joined the club, but will only move to Spurs after a loan at Metz.
But Tottenham also got rid of plenty of players to incorporate new signings. Pochettino wanted a clear out of the dead wood for years.

Tottenham clear out: Pochettino wanted it, Paratici gets it
Out went Joe Hart, Erik Lamela, Serge Aurier, Danny Rose, Moussa Sissoko, Toby Alderweireld – all long-standing Spurs players, apart from Hart.
Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius have gone. Paulo Gazzaniga joins Fulham. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Troy Parrott and Alfie Whiteman left on loan.
Towards the latter stages of Pochettino’s reign as Spurs boss, things went stale. A clear out would have changed that, renewing the enthusiasm.
But loyalty to the players in Pochettino’s golden era saw things fall by the way side. The clear out this summer, has been a long time coming.
Perhaps by about four years. Either way, it has finally happened and the enthusiasm at Spurs is high – especially after three league wins from three.
