Tottenham fans discuss Pape Matar Sarr display as Senegal ease past Togo

Senegal eased past Togo with a 2-0 on Wednesday as new Tottenham star Pape Matar Sarr impressed – and Spurs fans have reacted on Twitter.

Sarr, 18, completed a move to Tottenham towards the latter stages of the window. Spurs paid a fee of £14.5million (Mail) to sign Sarr from Metz.

It comes after breaking into Ligue 1 side Metz’s first team. Not only did he play 25 times for the French club last season, but he is now a Senegal star.

Indeed, Sarr was handed a start and his third Senegal cap on Wednesday in a crucial Afcrican Cup of Nations qualifying match for Senegal.

While he has been playing in holding midfield for Metz, Sarr was used in a more attacking role by Senegal – even appearing on the right flank at times.

Sarr for Senegal: Tottenham fans impressed with new signing

The new Spurs ace lasted 73 minutes before being replaced, and looked bright. He even had chances to open his Senegal account.

But it was the midfielder’s versatility that impressed Spurs fans more than anything. His ability to play as a 10 and on the right is news to supporters.

Senegal cruised to a good win, thanks to goals from Liverpool’s Sadio Mane in the first half – and then Paris Saint-Germain defender Abdou Diallo.

Tottenham fans took to Twitter to applaud their new signing Sarr. A couple of fans suggested he is a “regen” of Zinedine Zidane and Paul Pogba.
