Report: Newcastle want immediate response from 22-year-old now, relationship with his club is getting worse

Newcastle United want an immediate response from Sven Botman amid the protracted negotiations over signing him.

Reports in Italy claim that Botman wants to join Serie A holders AC Milan, but his club Lille would rather send him to Newcastle.

Radio Rossonera claim that is because the Magpies are making a more lucrative financial offer than the Italian champions.

But relations between Lille and Newcastle are getting worse after a long series of negotiations for the second transfer window running.

Newcastle want immediate response from Botman

The relationship between Lille and Newcastle is described as ‘slowly cracking’ in the report and the French club recently raised their demands to £35 million.

To stop it dragging on even further, the Magpies would like an immediate response from the 22-year-old himself at this stage.

The report says Botman is doing everything he can to make his preferred move to the San Siro happen, which means that Newcastle have been left waiting.

They ask whether the club or the player will get what they want and Newcastle are in the middle of it, waiting for an answer so they know whether they need to crack on with other targets.

It is clear by now how much Newcastle want Botman, and they are clearly willing to take him for big money even if the reports that his heart set on Milan are to be believed.

But there will come a line in the sand at some point, where Newcastle cannot wait around any longer and need to know if they need to line someone else up.

It can be a dangerous game getting in players who you really have to convince to come when they have their eye on a move elsewhere.

But Botman has been their top defensive target for two windows now, which means the club are convinced about how good he is and want to bring him to Tyneside.
