Moussa Diaby is still on Newcastle United’s radar and the Magpies could go back in for the Frenchman.
Diaby was one of a number of players Newcastle were chasing in the summer but couldn’t get over the line.
The Magpies were competing with Arsenal for his signature, according to journalist Dean Jones.
However, Jones believed Diaby was ‘ungettable’ as Leverkusen were ‘desperate to keep the group together’.

Leverkusen had a brilliant campaign last season, and qualified for the Champions League.
However, this season has been a disaster, and up until last weekend they were in the relegation zone in the Bundesliga.
They sacked their manager, and brought in Xabi Alonso for his first senior managerial role.
The Spaniard is very unlikely to want to lose Diaby, but given the season they’re having, it’s no surprise he’s on Newcastle’s radar.
Diaby still on Newcastle’s radar
The ‘lightning’ quick attacker would certainly suit Newcastle’s style.
The left-footed right-winger is an exciting talent, who loves dribbling at attackers and getting into dangerous areas.
He recorded a goal and two assists in his first game under Alonso at the weekend, showing how well he can play.
There’s plenty of Premier League interest in Diaby, with Tottenham also sending scouts to watch Diaby.

The young Frenchman has already won eight caps for France, and will be hoping to go to the World Cup.
A good performance in Qatar could prompt even more clubs to consider Diaby and push his asking price up further.
Considering he was impossible to sign in the summer, that would be bad news for Eddie Howe’s side in January.
Diaby remains on Newcastle’s radar though, and they’ll be hoping a deal is possible in the upcoming window.
