Report: Newcastle United are the only club ready to make bid to sign 27-year-old World Cup star, it'll be a big offer

In stark contrast to twelve months ago, Newcastle United are now competing with the Premier League’s top sides.

Eddie Howe has overseen a complete turnaround in their fortunes, and his side currently sit third in the league.

A report from Italian outlet CalcioMercato suggests Newcastle could beat their new rivals to a World Cup star.

Howe will have been very pleased with how his side were playing before the mid-season break.

However, Newcastle will need to keep looking for ways to improve their squad to maintain the position in the league.

CalcioMercato now believe that Newcastle are set to bid for Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

The 27-year-old has been linked with Liverpool, and the CalcioMercato report suggests Arsenal and Chelsea are watching him too.

However, they believe Newcastle are at the front of the queue to sign Rabiot, and the signs are looking good to complete the deal.

Newcastle ready to bid for Rabiot

CalcioMercato suggest that Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri has now ‘resigned himself’ to losing Rabiot.

Rabiot’s contract runs out next summer, and there’s no suggestion he’ll renew his deal at Juventus.

They believe ‘there is a risk’ that Rabiot leaves as early as January, with Newcastle ‘ready to present a rich offer’.

The 27-year-old has been a key part of France’s World Cup side, and has formed an unlikely partnership with Antoine Griezmann.

Just a few months ago, Rabiot wouldn’t have been a certain starter for Les Bleus.

However, the loss of Paul Pogba and N’Golo Kante to injury have given Rabiot his chance in Qatar.

Rabiot’s certainly taken it, and that may be part of the reason why Newcastle are so keen to bid for him.

The Frenchman is reportedly demanding £166k-a-week to leave Juventus.

This would make him Newcastle’s highest paid player; however, this reflects the calibre of player the Magpies are now linked with.

The midfield combination of Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton has certainly served Newcastle well so far.

Adding Rabiot to the mix could take Newcastle to the next level.
