Report: Newcastle closely monitoring Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot
Newcastle United are closely monitoring Adrien Rabiot with the Juventus midfielder’s contract expiring in the summer, according to a report from Calciomercato.It.
Rabiot has been such an intriguing figure throughout his career. He has shone for Juve for much of this season. And he scored in France’s opening game of the World Cup last month.
However, the midfielder has always struggled for consistency. And it probably says a fair amount that the Old Lady have allowed his deal in Turin to run into its final few months.
Newcastle closely monitoring Rabiot
Rabiot will be able to discuss terms with foreign teams from next month. And it seems that there are a host of Premier League admirers in the running for his signature.
According to a recent report from Calciomercato, Arsenal and Chelsea are prepared to meet his £166,000-a-week wage demands. Meanwhile, Tottenham are also keen, with Fabio Paratici a big fan of the 27-year-old.
But Calciomercato. It is now reporting that Newcastle are also closely monitoring Rabiot. Juventus meanwhile, would be prepared to sell him for up to £17.2 million in January.
It would be a surprise if the Magpies truly had their eye on Rabiot. Eddie Howe’s men are flying in the Premier League. And they have an opportunity to achieve something special this season.
However, they have done that by building a squad which appears to have no egos which could be considered disruptive.
Rabiot’s form this season has been something of an anomaly. And clearly, he is looking for incredibly lucrative terms at his next club.
If he joins Newcastle and he thrives, he could be an inspired signing. But it is a huge if. And there are likely to be plenty of Magpies fans who would not mind if he headed elsewhere.
