Newcastle United are willing to pay Ajax manager Erik ten Hag around £10m-a-year to become their new manager under PIF.
According to the The Mirror, the Magpies are looking intently at Ten Hag and see him as the perfect Steve Bruce replacement. It is claimed they’ll offer him £10m-a-year (£200k-a-week), and a big transfer kitty to try and lure him to St James’ Park.
However, The Mirror also reports that it won’t be easy to get Ten Hag. It’s claimed that the Dutch coach has serious reservations about taking on the Newcastle job as it stands. The 51-year-old is said to question the sense in taking on a relegation fight.

Newcastle lost once again yesterday, this time to Chelsea. PIF and Amanda Staveley are said to be working hard to get both a new manager and Director of Football in.
Ten Hag’s appointment could be made easier if the Magpies manage to secure Marc Overmars as DoF. Reports last week claimed the former Arsenal winger had been contact by PIF about the role.
TBR’s View: Ten Hag right to have reservations on Newcastle
This is the major issue the Toon have right now. For all the money and future glory that might come, the here and now is a worry.
Newcastle are in very serious trouble. They could be relegated quite easily, and the squad looks short of any confidence and hope. Of course, a new manager could change that around. But does Ten Hag really fancy that challenge? Probably not.
PIF might well be better looking for a more short-term solution. Someone who can come in, steady the ship, and simply keep the club in the PL. From there, someone like Ten Hag then becomes a more realistic proposition.
It’s a huge decision at Newcastle and a huge decision for whoever does take the reins.
