Newcastle United are set to make a bid for Benfica and Portugal attacker Rafa Silva, according to Correio do Manha.
Silva was part of Portugal’s squad for Euro 2020, however, the winger failed to start a single game. He came of the bench twice for Fernando Santos’ men, playing a total of 51 minutes.
It comes after a stellar season with the Liga NOS outfit, where he played 44 appearances across all competitions. The 28-year-old scored nine goals and registered seven assists in just over 2,800 minutes.
Overall, he’s enjoyed a successful time with Benfica, lifting two league titles.
It’s being claimed by the publication that the Eagles will negotiate his exit with the winger ‘on the exit door’. However, Benfica won’t allow the player to leave for less than €25m (£21.5m).

TBR View: Newcastle need to bid for Willock rather than Silva
After reports it will take a bid of more than £20m, Newcastle need to bid for Joe Willock rather than Silva.
The Englishman added a key attacking threat from midfield when he joined the club in January.
He performed incredibly well, scoring eight times in just 14 Premier League games. As a result, a transfer will likely cost the Geordies in excess of £30m.
And with Mike Ashley reportedly freeing up just £50m this summer, spending half on one player would be an awful move.
Silva is a great attacking threat, however, a move can only happen if there is a sale of an attacker this summer.
