Report: Newcastle readying a mammoth £113k-a-week offer to tempt midfielder
CalcioMercato claim Newcastle United are preparing a huge £113k-a-week offer to sign Inter Milan ace Marcelo Brozovic, who could join on a free.
Brozovic, 28, has been strongly linked with the Premier League in recent weeks. The Croatian ball-player is out of contract in June 2022.
It means non-Italian sides can pick Brozovic up on a pre-contract agreement from January 1, if he does not sign a new deal with Inter Milan.
Landing him on a pre-contract, under the Bosman ruling, would see Newcastle have to wait until the summer to get him.
They could sign him straight away, but would have to arrange a cut-price fee with Inter. It seems they are going down the pre-contract route.
That is because a CM report says Brozovic will be handed £113,000 a week at Newcastle. GDS say Tottenham and Manchester United are also keen.
Newcastle eye Brozovic: Inter star is exactly what the Toon need
Most Newcastle fans would tell you that the middle of the park is where Newcastle require the most strengthening. Despite signing Joe Willock.
Willock is more of a 10. They need a four, one to control the tempo. Sean Longstaff, Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey are not good enough.
One with experience, but still has the legs to put a foot in and fight in a relegation scrap. One that can be the engine room of the new Newcastle era.
Brozovic is ideal. But Newcastle would be better off giving Inter some cash for his signature, and signing him in January to help them stay up.
