Report: Newcastle United prepare major bid to sign 'excellent' 27-year-old who Antonio Conte wants at Tottenham
Calciomercato reports that Newcastle United are now preparing a major bid to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot – a player who Antonio Conte wants at Tottenham Hotspur.
Eddie Howe’s men are flying high in the Premier League and headed into the World Cup in third place.
Spurs are battling it out for a place in the top-four alongside them and sit just one point behind the Magpies in fourth place.
Both sides will be aiming to bolster their squads in January in order to maintain their push for Champions League football. And they are both eyeing a move for French midfielder Rabiot.
Calciomercato claimed this week that Spurs are willing to make Rabiot their highest-paid midfielder at the club. But it seems that Howe’s men are preparing to blow them out of the water.
Newcastle prepare bid to sign Rabiot
Newcastle are serious about signing Rabiot and are ready to make a ‘super offer’ for the 27-year-old, claims Calciomercato.
Howe’s men are apparently lining up this bid for January in order to beat the competition for his signature.
Rabiot is currently enjoying a brilliant World Cup campaign with France and has really caught the eye in Qatar.
The ‘excellent’ midfielder has been linked with a move to a host of Premier League clubs, including the likes for Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Juve man admitted yesterday that he would like to play in England in the future, but he doesn’t have a preference over which side he would like to join.
Rabiot’s form for the Old Lady has been slightly patchy but he’s impressing at the World Cup and could be an attractive option for English sides.
The former Toulouse man has just over six-months left on his current deal with Juve and could be available at a cut-price in January.
