According to German outlet BILD, Newcastle United are now interested in signing Thorgan Hazard from Borussia Dortmund this summer.

A lot is expected of the Magpies in this window. After the success they had in January, many feel the next two months will show the world what the Toon under PIF are all about.

However, apart from taking up the option to sign Matt Targett on a permanent deal, Newcastle haven’t really done much but be linked with a plethora of different players from across Europe.

Eden Hazard’s little brother, Thorgan, is the latest name to come out of the rumour mill.

Newcastle want to sign Thorgan Hazard

The one area where Newcastle United struggled last season, especially in the first half of the campaign, was with goals. The Magpies scored 44 times in the league last term, and although it proved to be enough to secure a 11th place finish, they need more going forward.

As a result, reinforcements in attack will be the key for the Magpies this summer, and Dortmund star Hazard is reportedly on Howe’s wish list.

The report claims that BVB aren’t really against selling Hazard this summer as he’s no longer an important player for them. They are willing to let him go for as little as £12.8 million, which would be very affordbale for Newcastle.

Described as ‘one of the most feared attacking players in Germany‘ by Bundesliga’s official website, Hazard has played 98 times for Dortmund, scored 15 goals and provided 20 assists over the last three years.

TBR View:

If there’s one trait that every manager in the world would love for all their players to have, it’s versatility. That’s exactly what Hazard brings to the table.

The Belgian can play on either wing, as a number 10 and even up front as a centre-forward. He’ll give Howe a lot of options and at just under £13 million, he’s very affordable too.

But, should Newcastle sign him?

Hazard managed just three goals in the Bundesliga last campaign, and he scored just once in the season before. If Newcastle’s aim is to solve their goalscoring woes, they’ll need someone much better than Thorgan Hazard – maybe his big brother Eden.
