Newcastle United are now in talks with Real Madrid over a deal for Marco Asensio, with Media Foot reporting that the Magpies have made a £23.7 million bid for the Spaniard.
Asensio’s future at the Bernabeu remains up in the air. His contract with Los Blancos expires at the end of next season.

He has been a superb servant for Real over the years. But it appears that he could be heading to the Premier League in this window.
Reports previously claimed that Arsenal were planning to bid for the 26-year-old. However, it appears that it is Newcastle who have made the first move to sign the attacking midfielder.

Media Foot reports that Newcastle are now in discussions with Real about Asensio. They have offered £23.7 million for him.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men ideally want £29.6 million for him. So there appears to be a little way to go before an agreement is reached between the two clubs.
It is noted that Asensio’s current preference is to stay in the Spanish capital. He is ready to leave on a free transfer next summer.
Newcastle in talks to sign Marco Asensio
Newcastle have done some incredibly smart business in this window, strengthening their options at the back. And the fans will now be hoping that they look further up the field.
Signing Asensio would definitely be an exciting piece of business. He is a ‘world-class‘ player who may not even be at his peak yet.
He would arguably be a marquee signing without commanding a marquee fee.
If reports are correct, Newcastle have already taken a big step towards reaching an agreement. It will be very interesting to see how situation develops in the coming weeks.
