Newcastle United have now made an official bid for Jack Harrison, with Tuttomercatoweb in Italy reporting that the Magpies have offered Leeds £23.8 million for the winger.
Harrison’s future has been a talking point for several weeks now. The 25-year-old played an important role in keeping Jesse Marsch’s men in the Premier League last year. He scored eight times in the top-flight, and was labelled ‘unbelievable‘ by Kalvin Phillips.

His form has not gone unnoticed. Reports have suggested that both Tottenham and Newcastle want Harrison this summer.
However, with the new season looming, it did seem that the Whites may keep the Englishman after already selling Phillips and Raphinha.

He has been on the club’s pre-season tour to Australia. And Jesse Marsch spoke of his desire to keep him at Elland Road.
But it seems that Newcastle are indeed looking to test their resolve. Tuttomercatoweb reports that Eddie Howe’s men have now bid £23.8 million (€28 million) for Harrison.
The report notes that Leeds want £35.8 million (€42 million) for the wide-man. So you would imagine that the Whites will not take too long to consider their response.
Newcastle bid for Harrison may be ominous for Leeds
Newcastle have done some smart business in this window. They have improved their options at the back considerably with the likes of Nick Pope and Sven Botman.
But they have endured frustration when it comes to signing attacking players. And that may be ominous for Leeds.
Their first bid is some way short of Leeds’ valuation. But it is still a statement that suggests that they are prepared to offer more.
If Harrison decides that he wishes to go, Newcastle will find themselves in an incredibly strong position.
It could potentially be a nervy few weeks for Leeds.
