Report: Newcastle likely to bid for Leeds winger Jack Harrison
Newcastle are likely to bid for Jack Harrison, but The Telegraph reports that the Magpies fear that Leeds United surviving relegation may put paid to their hopes of signing the winger this summer.
Leeds surprised many by staying up on the final day of the Premier League season. They beat Brentford 2-1 to spark wild scenes. And it was Harrison who scored the stoppage-time winner that all but confirmed that Jesse Marsch’s men would be safe.
But of course, Newcastle played their part in keeping Leeds up. The Whites had to better Burnley’s result to survive. And Eddie Howe’s side left Turf Moor with a 2-1 win of their own to ensure that the door was open for Leeds.
Unfortunately for Newcastle, it appears that that win has done them few favours in the transfer market. Reports on Monday noted that they are keen on signing Harrison.
And The Telegraph reports that they are likely to still bid for the 25-year-old. However, they now fear that Leeds staying up may dash their hopes of doing a deal.

Leeds can now set their sights on keeping as many of their key men as possible. And Harrison is one of those they will surely hope to hold onto.
Kalvin Phillips labelled him ‘unbelievable‘ after the final day win. And his contribution to Leeds’ season has been absolutely pivotal, with eight goals in the Premier League.
He does have the potential to frustrate supporters. But it says a lot that Newcastle and Tottenham are monitoring his situation.
He has stepped up with some huge goals for Leeds. And the Whites will want a massive fee to be put on the table before they even consider letting him go.
Certainly, the onus is now on Newcastle to make Leeds an offer they simply cannot refuse.
