Newcastle United are planning to make a move for Ismaila Sarr, with The Sun reporting that he looks certain to leave Watford this summer even the Hornets manage to stay up.

Sarr has boasted a good record once again in the Premier League this season. He has five goals in 16 appearances for Roy Hodgson’s men.

Overall, his record at English football’s top table is remarkable. He has 10 goals and seven assists in 44 games. Unfortunately, it has been a disappointing year at Vicarage Road.

The campaign could still end in relegation for Watford. But The Sun suggests that Sarr’s future has already been partially decided, as he looks certain to leave whatever happens in their final nine games.

The Sun reports that Newcastle plan to make a move for Sarr. But the Magpies will have to pay more than the £30 million Watford spent when they broke their club record on the forward.

They were linked with him back in January.

Sarr would be a fantastic signing for Newcastle

Sarr is not yet the finished article. It has been a frustrating season with a couple of spells out of the side due to injury. But he clearly has a lot of potential.

Sadio Mane previously lauded his ‘rapid‘ international teammate. And he actually expressed some disappointment that Liverpool did not sign him before his move to Watford.

So it would be an exciting statement of intent if Newcastle sign Sarr this summer.

The Magpies have shown a glimpse of what they could be under Eddie Howe. But clearly, there is a lot of work still to do.

Once survival is secured this season, Newcastle have a massive summer ahead. And signing Sarr would not be a bad way to kick things off.
