The Mail claim Newcastle United’s new owners have identified Watford attacker Ismaila Sarr as their first proper target for the January window.
Sarr, 23, has made a brilliant start to 21-22 after Watford gained promotion from the Championship – in what is his second Premier League campaign.
Previously scoring five and creating six in 28 Premier League games the first time around, he already has four league goals in nine this season.
But that, of course, is attracting interest. Newcastle’s new owners have been linked with numerous players – but it appears Sarr is their main priority.
The new owners want to sign Sarr in January but it is unlikely Watford will consider any sort of approach – as they look to stave off relegation.
Watford are aware he will go eventually. The club think Sarr has similar potential to £100million Jack Grealish, and will ask for a similar price tag.

Sarr to Newcastle: Watford star a brilliant move from new owners
Newcastle need another superstar in attack to share the load. One that can hold the right flank down as his own, with Callum Wilson up top.
Allan Saint-Maximin is best from the left – meaning that a right-sided winger is the order of the day. Pepe is certainly best from the right.
While he might cost an enormous figure, with compromise perhaps around £80million, he would be a superb first signing for the Toon.
But they might have to wait until the summer. For any price, it seems unlikely that Watford would sell their best player to a relegation rival.
