Report: Newcastle keen on Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham
Newcastle could be about to make a move for Chelsea striker, Tammy Abraham, with Chelsea said to be open to offers for the forward.
The Northern Echo claims that Steve Bruce’s side are considering making loan moves for both Abraham, and his Chelsea teammate, Billy Gilmour.
Abraham has endured a frustrating time of things under Thomas Tuchel this season. But he still ended up a Champions League winner this weekend, despite his lack of game time in recent months.
However, Chelsea are still looking into the possibility of offloading the England forward. It is believed the Blues would prefer a big-money sale.
Newcastle, though, are said to be keen on a loan deal for Abraham, per the report from the Echo.
Abraham is said to be wanted by a number of clubs in the Premier League, with West Ham and Aston Villa keen. Indeed, a recent report from the Sunday Mirror suggested Villa could pay around £30m for the forward.
Further, Talksport pundit Trevor Sinclair has also tipped Abraham for a move to Manchester City, as previously covered on TBR.
Abraham would be a solid addition for Newcastle but a loan unlikely
If Chelsea are to let Abraham go, then surely a loan isn’t the way forward?
The Blues would surely look to get some money for their man, rather than just let him spend another year with another PL club. On that part, it just makes no sense.
But you have to admire Newcastle’s ambition here. Abraham would be ideal for them leading the line, especially if they can add the likes of Joe Willock too.
Newcastle fans will love the intention from the club here if the reports are true. Gilmour, too, would also be a sound addition. But for now, a loan for Abraham certainly seems a tough ask.
