Foot Mercato claim that Newcastle have opened talks to sign Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele on a free transfer, offering a huge five-year deal.
Dembele, 24, is out of contract at Barcelona at the end of the season – despite costing the Nou Camp club an enormous £97million (Sky Sports).
The France international has struggled to live up to the hype since a string of big injuries. He is yet to play for Barcelona this season.
The latest report claims Newcastle have opened talks to sign Dembele on a free transfer – he would join The Toon next summer on a pre-contract.
But as Bosman moves normally go, his wages are high. The report says a five-year deal is on the table, worth a whopping £244,000 a week.
It is also reported that Manchester City are rivalling Newcastle, while Dembele is also after a £12.7million signing on fee, given he is a free.
The report states that Barcelona will not be able to pay such demands but of course, Newcastle can. Relegation, and a move will fall away.

Dembele to Newcastle: Could the Toon really sign Barcelona ace?
Things are beginning to happen at Newcastle, now. They have sacked Steve Bruce, which prompted reaction from Alan Shearer among others.
They have the financial power to do so – but could Dembele be tempted by Newcastle? Well, Dembele needs to join a team to get his confidence back.
While Newcastle can afford his wages, Dembele might use the Toon as a stepping stone to get him back into the Champions League mix.
