Report: Newcastle have now been offered the chance to sign Champions League player Klopp thinks is 'great'
Newcastle United have been offered the chance to sign German international forward Timo Werner from Chelsea.
90Min report that Werner is among the host of players that the Magpies have been offered in recent weeks.
They say that there is not much prospect of Werner’s situation at Stamford Bridge improving next season, despite the departure of Romelu Lukaku.
And Newcastle have been linked with signing Werner this week, as they continue their chase for a new forward ahead of the new term.
Newcastle offered Timo Werner
The report says that Eddie Howe actually wants a wide forward and a striker added to his squad, but Financial Fair Play limits what they can do.
Werner can play in both roles, so that might explain his potential suitability for Newcastle, despite his tough time at Chelsea.
Before Werner joined the Blues, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp described him as a ‘great player’, as per the Evening Standard.
That offers an idea of his quality when he is at his very best, but things just have not worked out for him at all since he came to England.
He just needs a fresh start, and Newcastle could perhaps offer him that, as well as a chance to be loved and valued as a key member of the team.
On the flip side, Chelsea can offer Champions League football and even though they have had a tricky pre-season, they tend to be in the conversation for the country’s top honours.
