Newcastle are reportedly targeting Chelsea forward Timo Werner, who has been compared to Miguel Almiron in the past.
According to journalist Christian Falk, Newcastle’s pursuit of a new forward – which has lasted two transfer windows – has taken them to Werner.
Chelsea are still trying to replace Romelu Lukaku, who has re-joined Inter Milan on loan but Werner does not appear to be the answer to that particular conundrum.
The Blues were beaten 4-0 by Arsenal in their most recent pre-season game and Thomas Tuchel needs more firepower and quality.

Newcastle target Werner compared to Almiron
Jamie Carragher has claimed that Almiron is ‘similar’ to Werner, on Sky Sports Premier League, in March when Chelsea beat the Magpies 1-0.
“He put a shift in, he always does,” said Carragher of Almiron.
“He just lacks a bit of quality. Similar to Timo Werner.”

The 26-year-old is an established Germany international and was one of Europe’s most sought-after strikers before he came to England.
He just looks short on confidence right now and it is fair to say that his Chelsea switch just has not worked out, but he is not the only big-money striker to struggle at Stamford Bridge.
It would be a gamble for Newcastle to take him on – especially if they have to spend big to get him – but in Germany, he showed how good he can be.
