Newcastle United have registered an interest in signing Paulo Dybala ahead of the end of his contract with Juventus this summer, according to a report from Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport.

Dybala appears to have put a host of European sides on alert ahead of the end of the season. He has decided that he is not going to sign a new deal with the Old Lady.

And it does seem that he is going to get the chance to move to the Premier League. Previous reports have claimed that Tottenham may be the side in pole position to sign Dybala.

But there are other opportunities set to be put on the table.

Corrieire dello Sport reports that both Newcastle and Arsenal have registered an interest in Dybala. So far, the moves have not gone past expressing their interest in the Argentinian.

Newcastle signing Paulo Dybala would be huge statement, but deal surely unlikely

Newcastle are reportedly not looking to spend huge amounts of money this summer. And with that, the Magpies fans may not be expecting too many marquee deals over the coming months.

A move for Dybala does seem possible due to his contract situation. He will certainly cost a lot in wages. But Newcastle would not have to part with a transfer fee to bring him to St James’ Park.

However, it is still hard to see the 28-year-old moving to Tyneside. He is a ‘special‘ player, and he is going to have offers from across Europe, including from clubs in the Champions League.

And he may be reluctant to join Newcastle at a time when they are still growing and have plenty of work to do to get themselves amongst the heavyweights.

It is foolish to rule anything out in the market, particularly where Newcastle are concerned. But it is surely fair to suggest that the Magpies are underdogs in the battle for Dybala.
