Newcastle United could make an ‘ambitious’ move for Oleksandr Zinchenko as the Manchester City star struggles for game-time at the Etihad Stadium, according to a report from The Northern Echo.
Zinchenko has endured a frustrating start to the campaign. He has not featured in the Premier League since the first international break of the season, proving to be an unused substitute in the last five games.

And it appears that that could inspire Newcastle to test City’s resolve to keep him during the January transfer window.
According to The Northern Echo, Eddie Howe is keen to bolster his options with players with Premier League experience as they look to get themselves out of trouble in the Premier League.
Players such as Divock Origi are reportedly on their radar, with a potential loan move for the Liverpool man being looked at.

But it is also suggested that Zinchenko is a more ambitious target for the Magpies.
Zinchenko could be a fantastic signing for Newcastle – if they can convince him to leave Manchester City
In many respects, the 24-year-old is an ideal target. The Ukraine international is capable of playing almost anywhere in the defence or midfield.
At City, he has predominantly played at left-back. But he is also a very capable central midfielder.
Newcastle lined up in a 3-4-3 system against Brentford at the weekend. So Zinchenko would perhaps be the perfect player to go out on the left flank where Matt Ritchie was deployed.
But convincing him to move to St James’ Park may not be easy. Potential targets will be wary of moving while relegation remains a genuine possibility.
