Newcastle United have decided that talented midfielder Elliot Anderson will be staying at the club and not leaving on loan.
The Daily Mail report that Jonjo Shelvey will miss the first half of the season and will not be back until after the World Cup.
And that apparently means that Anderson will be kept around at St James’ Park to compete for a place in the midfield.
Anderson is now in Eddie Howe’s plans, amid loan interest from a host of Championship clubs and 23 outfits in total, according to a recent report.

Anderson now staying at Newcastle
There is a real feeling of optimism around Newcastle right now and they got their season off to a winning start by beating Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Saturday.
Bringing a talented academy graduate into the first team would only increase that sense of excitement for the future.
On the other hand, would Anderson be better served going out and playing a full season of Championship football, rather than being kept around at Newcastle as injury cover?

Howe has hailed Anderson as ‘incredible’ for his impact at Bristol Rovers, with whom he spent the second half of last season and helped them earn promotion from League 2.
He is ready for a higher level now, and is a hugely talented player who could well make the grade as a Premier League midfielder.
Anderson’s contract situation is something Newcastle are apparently trying to sort, in order to extend the one he currently has which runs until 2024.
