Goal claim that Newcastle United are now willing to hand Bruno Guimaraes a new contract that will make him the club’s highest-paid player in history.
The Brazilian only joined the Magpies in January this year. PIF splashed £40 million (Sky Sports) to bring him in, and he has been sensational for them almost every time he has played.

New contract will make Bruno Guimaraes Newcastle’s highest-paid player in history
The report claims that Chelsea are keen to sign Guimaraes and may table a bid to get him in the January transfer window. The Blues could do with reinforcements in the middle of the park, and unsurprisingly, they think the Newcastle midfielder would be a great addition.
The Magpies, however, have no interest in letting him leave.
The report claims that Newcastle are now willing to offer Guimaraes their ‘biggest ever contract’ to convince him to stay at the club despite all the interest in him.
The Brazilian, branded as an ‘outstanding’ player by Paul Merson on The Daily Star, is currently the Magpies’ second-highest earner, pocketing £120,000-a-week – the same as Alexander Isak (Spotrac). If he agrees to pen a new deal, that figure will go up considerably.
Guimaraes’ current deal at Newcastle expires in the summer of 2026.

TBR View:
Guimaraes is arguably Newcastle’s best player, and it is no surprise at all that the Magpies want to tie him down to a long-term deal.
The Brazilian has been excellent since he joined the club at the start of the year. He hit the ground running last season and is one of the biggest reasons why the Magpies didn’t suffer relegation.
This season, he has been even better. Guimaraes has really pushed Newcastle’s standards upwards, and with him playing brilliantly in the middle of the park, they could go on and achieve something really special this term.
It’s no surprise that clubs like Chelsea are keen to sign Guimaraes, but after how well he has done this year, there’s no way Newcastle will let him go in January.
