Report: New Chelsea manager Graham Potter wants to sign Harry Kane from Tottenham

A wild transfer rumour from Italy has just suggested that Chelsea want to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane and could offer Romelu Lukaku in a swap deal to convince Spurs.

The Blues got rid of Thomas Tuchel and brought in Graham Potter last week. The Englishman is one of the most exciting young managers in the world, and he has apparently named the one transfer he really wants next year – Kane.

Chelsea want to sign Harry Kane and could offer Romelu Lukaku in swap deal

CalcioMercatoWeb in Italy have reported this week that Kane is on Potter’s wish list.

The report claims that the new Chelsea boss ‘really likes’ the Spurs star, who has been described by the outlet as the ‘immovable symbol of Antonio Conte’s Tottenham’.

It goes without saying that the Blues and Spurs don’t always do business. They just don’t like each other, and the last thing Daniel Levy would want to do is send his best player to Stamford Bridge.

That’s probably the reason why Chelsea are thinking outside the box. The report claims that they are willing to offer Lukaku, a player who absolutely loves Conte, in a player-plus-cash deal that would see Kane join Potter’s side.

The Belgian, who became the seventh most expensive player of all time after Chelsea signed him for £97.5 million (Sky Sports) in 2021, is currently on loan at Inter Milan following his disappointing spell under Tuchel.

It has been claimed that the Nerazzurri are keen to make his move permanent, but it looks like Potter has other ideas.

Football is a funny game and anything can happen next year, but if you want our two cents about this rumour, we’re pretty sure this will not materialise.

As good as Lukaku is, he’s not on Kane’s level. The Belgian has struggled in the Premier League at both Manchester United and Chelsea, and even though he has a great relationship with Conte, it just doesn’t seem appealing enough.

To add to that, as things stand, Tottenham are more likely to finish higher than Chelsea this season. The Blues may even miss out on the Champions League if things don’t improve, which then makes them far less attractive to a player of Kane’s quality.

Kane will enter the final year of his contract next summer, and it will be interesting to see what happens with him then. However, it would be a real shock to us if Spurs agree to sell him to Chelsea.
