Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly been in talks with Roma over Nicolo Zaniolo.

Unsurprisingly, Spurs aren’t finding it plain sailing.

Zaniolo is one of the Giallorossi’s star players and Jose Mourinho doesn’t want to let him go easily.

La Repubblica, via Giallorossi.net and Sport Witness, has provided an update on the Zaniolo to Tottenham state of play.

Spurs are reportedly ‘attempting to make a new assault’ on the Italy midfielder.

Roma’s demands are currently €50-60m (£42m-50m), and Tottenham apparently don’t want to pay that outright.

Therefore, Spurs have instead offered two players to Roma in order to try and reach those figures, said the report.

Fabio Paratici has apparently proposed Japhet Tanganga and Tanguy Ndombele.

However, Mourinho has reportedly turned down Ndombele, as he doesn’t fit into the Portuguese’s plans.

Instead, the former Tottenham boss is said to have asked Paratici to include Oliver Skipp in any deal for Zaniolo.

Spurs apparently refused to include the “fantastic” 21-year-old, so there haven’t been any advances in talks.

Tottenham fans will no doubt be happy to hear that their club won’t entertain any approach for Skipp.

Since returning from a successful loan spell at Norwich in 2020-21, the youngster has impressed in Spurs’ midfield.

Conte is a huge fan of Skipp and thinks he can become one of the top midfielders in the Premier League

Sadly, the Englishman has suffered a number of injury setbacks over the past few months.

But if Skipp can avoid any further injuries, he’ll no doubt be key for Conte’s side this season.
