Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp is held in high regard by boss Antonio Conte.
The 21-year-old endured a frustrating campaign last season after suffering an injury in February that ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
But Skipp was a mainstay in Conte’s midfield beforehand and was often one of Spurs’ best performers under former boss Nuno Espirito Santo.

Conte thinks Skipp could become one of the top midfielders
“Skippy’s (Skipp) going to have a big season ahead,” he said.
“Conte is a big fan of Skippy and believes he can be one of the top Premier League midfielders out there.”
Skipp has certainly made an impact since spending a season on loan at Norwich City, where he flourished under Daniel Farke in the Championship.
The Spurs academy product returned to North London ahead of last season and was one of the team’s best players during a difficult period under Nuno.
He now faces stiff competition in central midfield at Tottenham, as the club have added Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma to Conte’s squad since his injury last season.

But he’s certainly helping his case for a starting role as Skipp ‘played beautifully’ on his return to action against Team K-League during pre-season this month.
He was ruled out of Spurs’ most recent friendly against Rangers with a foot injury, but Gold confirmed he’s expected to be back in time for the first game of the Premier League season.
TBR’s View: Skipp will get plenty of chances to impress this season
Conte is clearly a big fan of the player and Skipp should get plenty of opportunities this season. Despite having to compete with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Bentancur and Bissouma.
Tottenham will be attempting to progress in the Champions League, while fighting for a top four place in the Premier League. Conte will also be desperate to throw everything at winning a trophy this season, so he’s unlikely to take the domestic cups lightly either.
As Spurs will be playing plenty of games over the next year, it will be important for Conte to rotate his squad and Skipp will get plenty of game time over the next year.
The midfielder has evident quality and will be hoping for an injury-free season under the Italian so he can really show what he is capable of.
