Report: Monaco join Newcastle in race to sign Arsenal ace Willock
AS Monaco are reportedly in talks with Arsenal over a move for Newcastle-linked ace Joe Willock.
What’s the story?
According to RMC Sport, the French side are interested in signing the Englishman this summer.
It is thought the club’s move for Jean Lucas has hit a snag. As a result, they are exploring the possibility of signing the 21-year-old Arsenal man.
However, the youngster is also attracting interest from Steve Bruce’s team. He spent the second half of last season on loan with Newcastle, scoring eight times in 14 Premier League games.
The latest news is claiming the Magpies are confident about sealing a loan move for Willock.
Newcastle handed blow in transfer race
Newcastle have been handed a blow in the race to sign Arsenal ace Willock as Monaco join the race.
The Magpies would have hoped a move for the ‘baller‘ would be seamless after his monstrous loan spell last season.
However, a lack of financial power is holding back the northeast outfit. It is claimed they are only able to sign the player on a loan deal.
The issue has clearly opened the door for other clubs to join the race and it spells trouble for Newcastle.
A club of Monaco’s size will undoubtedly be a big draw for the likes of Willock. The club are in the play-off round of the Champions League, just two games away from the group stages.
Why join a midtable Premier League club, when you can potentially play against the best on the continent?
