Mikel Arteta is going to start Arsenal youngster Marquinhos in the Europa League tomorrow night, according to the Evening Standard.

The Gunners are coming off the back of a huge win on Saturday as they convincingly beat bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Arteta’s men put in an eye-catching display and ran out 3-1 winners at the Emirates. And with one eye on another big clash against Liverpool on Sunday, Arteta is expected to rotate his side tomorrow night.

This means that ‘exceptional’ Marquinhos is set to be handed his second start in an Arsenal shirt against Bodo/Glimt.

Arteta to start Marquinhos

The Evening Standard reports that Arsenal wingers Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli could be rested for their trip to Norway tomorrow.

This will open the door for Reiss Nelson and Marquinhos to get some first-team action under their belts.

The Brazilian winger impressed in Arsenal’s last Europa League game against FC Zurich, scoring a goal and providing an assist.

Marquinhos only made the switch to north London from Brazilian outfit Sao Paulo this summer.

The 19-year-old faces stiff competition for a place in the Arsenal side but the Europa League presents the perfect opportunity for the youngster.

Football journalist Dean Jones recently told GiveMeSport that Arteta plans to send the winger out on loan in January.

But with games coming thick and fast before the World Cup, Marquinhos will seemingly get his chance to impress in the Europa League. Arteta has shown during his time at Arsenal that he is more than willing to give younger players a chance.

The Brazilian talent will be hoping to make an impression tomorrow night and build on his promising display for the Gunners during his last start.
